It features distinctive V-shaped bands of light to deep purple amethyst alternating with white quartz. This striking pattern arises from the intergrowth of macrocrystalline amethyst and microcrystalline quartz layers.
This material is found in various locations worldwide, including Brazil, South Africa, Russia, and India. Notably, high-quality specimens with well-defined chevron patterns are sometimes sourced from mines in Brazil.
An interesting aspect of chevron amethyst is its formation process. It develops in veins within rocks where silica-rich fluids crystallize over time, creating the characteristic banded structure.
