Half Polished Brazilian Agate Point

$29.00 USD

I’ve always felt that these "half-and-half" Half Polished Brazilian Agate pieces are some of the best ways to appreciate geology because they tell a complete story of the stone. This Half-Polished Brazilian Agate point is a perfect example. By leaving the lower sides in their natural, rough state while polishing the front face to a high gloss, you get to see the stark contrast between the rugged exterior and the intricate beauty hidden within the volcanic host rock.

Brazil is world-renowned for its massive agate deposits, particularly in the Rio Grande do Sul region, where silica-rich fluids filled ancient gas bubbles in basaltic lava millions of years ago. As you look at the polished face of this specimen, you can clearly see the rhythmic, concentric banding that characterizes high-quality chalcedony. These bands are essentially a timeline of the mineral’s growth, with each layer representing a different pulse of mineral deposition. The colors are completely natural, ranging from soft translucent greys to milky whites and deep earth tones.

Because this is a Half-Polished Brazilian Agate, the base has been precision-cut so it stands upright without the need for a separate display stand. It’s a solid, weighty piece that feels great in the hand and looks even better on a bookshelf or desk where the light can pass through the more translucent layers. It’s a low-maintenance specimen that brings a bit of natural history into your space while showcasing the incredible layering process of microcrystalline quartz.
