What is Hematoid Quartz?
Hematoid Quartz is essentially a clear quartz crystal with inclusions of iron oxide minerals, specifically Hematite. These inclusions are what give the stone its signature fiery look, creating streaks, clouds, or patches of color that resemble dancing flames.
The color can range from bright red to orange and sometimes yellow depending on the specific iron mineral present. What makes the polished sphere shape so popular is how the light can pass through the clear quartz, illuminating the rich, concentrated inclusions within, giving it that mesmerizing "fire" effect.
Note that there is much of this material on the market and it's commonly heat treated, which brings out the intensity of the Red color. Due to this occurrence, we are noting that this sphere is likely heat treated.
