Shattuckite is a copper silicate mineral that has been found in the Milpillas Mine in Sonora, Mexico. It was first discovered in 1915 in the Shattuck Mine in Bisbee, Arizona, and is a secondary mineral that forms when other secondary minerals alter. Shattuckite has a density of 4.1, which is slightly higher than azurite and malachite, which have a density of 3.6 to 4.0. At a crystalline level, shattuckite is orthorhombic, while azurite and malachite are monoclinic.
