Thomsonite Specimen, India
Thomsonite, named after prominent chemist Thomas Thomson, is a well-named mineral belonging to the zeolite group. Primarily composed of hydrated calcium silicate, it may have minor amounts of sodium and traces of potassium, but lacks barium, strontium, iron, and magnesium. Structurally, it is similar to sodium-calcium zeolite mesolite and sodium zeolite natrolite, but does not form a continuous chemical series with either. It can be found in a range of colors, including white, transparent, pink, and red.
